The End May Be Near

Dad asked me to post a blog for him (this is Vicki).  Mom had a seizure today -- Dad called a hospice nurse to come out.  She seems to think Mom had a stroke caused by the cancer having spread to her brain.  The nurse gave her some medicine to stop the seizure.  Mom is unresponsive right now -- she is sleeping and according to the nurse comfortable and pain free.  They have moved her to the hospice center.  They will continue to give her that medicine every six hours so she does not have any more seizures.  The nurse said she will most likely not wake up and will most likely not last more than a couple of days.

While we are all sad we know that this is what Mom really wanted.

  1. i so love your mom and dad and will always treasure the time they spent with me on a personal level while they were in Elberta UT on their mission. My heart is full of sadness because of her suffering, which causes Glenn to suffer; but am so thankful they have the knowledge that God is with her every step of the way!!!
May God bless and comfort all of you in this latest news.

  2. Dear to our hearts are Jody and Glenn Shields. They have been in our home on many occasions helping, encourage, and strengthening our children. We were struggling with several at that time and they were so kind to see the need and answer the call. They were a missionary couple in Elberta Utah and our children loved to have come and eat at our home. We spend many hours visiting and sharing with each other. Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us and making us better because of your continual positive reinforcement.
We will miss Jody, but her goodness, influence and love will live with my family forever. We love you Glenn and our prayers are with you at this very difficult time. Our heart yearn to be near to support and strengthen you at this time.
